Hot Prairie Nights - Streaming Show Intro
A few months into the Covid-19 Pandemic, one of my improv teams had transitioned to online shows. A struggle for sure, but we tried to make it work. Once it became apparent this was going to last for quite a while, I thought it might be fun to have some engaging way to launch the live stream of our show each month and hacked this together. It started with the music which was produced entirely in one afternoon using the musical typing feature in Logic Pro on my laptop at my old day job. The visual samples mostly come from Neon Genesis Evangelion and NES classic Rad Racer. Something about the combined aesthetic of all these elements captured a melancholy feeling of being stuck in a moment that refuses to advance that settled deep in our collective bones that year and I personally feel hasn’t let up since (I’m retroactively writing this in July 2022). Thus, this was the genesis for this retro, degraded aesthetic settling into my personal production style ever since. Fun way to start a comedy show, am I right?! People actually loved it! Looked forward to it! 2020 was a weird year.
